The Crucible: Completed Timeline and First Reading

After we finished our timeline about the events of the Salem Witch Trials and the history of the town of Salem, we moved on to looking at the structure of our text. We found that the text has a lengthy introduction and lots of historical information about the time period and the life of the author. Because we already took notes and talked about the background of this play in great depth, we moved right on to the reading of the text.

Though it took some coaching, several of you were able to recall some of your skills for dramatic/ performance reading. You put some emotion into your lines and portrayed the stress and anxiety of the opening scene of this play with some real-sounding emotion. Good job.

We read from the bottom of page seven to the middle of page sixteen. If you were absent, please see me about making up the timeline and the reading we covered this class period.
