When I choose issues to discuss and write about for the Opinion Pieces, I am looking for topics and events that could be issues you'd all have to think about once you are voting, vocal members of our local, state, national, and global communities. Some of the issues are broad and global and national, while others are more specific, local issues. This latter type of topic is the category under which our Opinion Piece #8 falls.
For this OP, we discussed and wrote about the proposed topless coffee shop that may open in Vassalboro, Maine. This small town is located outside of Augusta, and is comparable to most of the small towns in our school district in terms of its population. For this OP, I wanted you to determine whether or not you would support such a business opening in your small town.
The discussion around this issue was interesting, to say the least. We had a variety of opinions expressed. I am excited to read what you all wrote in your OP's and to see whether or not your opinions jive with those of the Vassalboroians. We'll have to watch this issue as it develops!
