Hello everyone! This is an area online where you can access links to my favorite sites, work to complete some of your in-class assignments, and find out what you missed if you were absent.
Hamlet: Act One, Scene One
After a lengthy discussion about Shakespeare's biographical background, we moved into the first act and scene of Hamlet. I was pleasantly surprised by how much your remember about the good bard! Maybe this is because we've read and acted out so many Shakespeare plays?
Of course, I assigned all leads and understudies before we started our first reading of this scene. We did not get up and act this scene out, but we definitely will be acting out the scenes that require more of a physical presence. Another new aspect that we're going to incorporate into this course is the close study of some of the soliloquies from this play. We're going to find out for ourselves the real message behind the whole "to be or not to be" speech. I promise you that it's more than is portrayed in fast food commercials.
I loved how you all jumped right into character! Your enthusiasm and vocal acting skills add so much meaning to our group understanding of this play. I can't wait to see what happens!
