Though we only read to page ninety-five in Speak, we had a great deal of discussion around Melinda's appearance, her encounter with "IT" (now known as Andy Evans), and her lowered grades. We are now in her Third Marking Period and we're not seeing much in the way of progress. In fact, we see her becoming more and more isolated and ignored by her parents.
We spent some time working toward final drafts of letter number two. The vocabulary words dyou had to choose from are included in this post. Most of you finished this process during class. If not, please see me to schedule a time to finish.
We'll read Laurie Halse Anderson's poem "Listen" and think about our poem next class.
