Because we would've gone three weeks without a Poetry Friday, I decided to institute a new rule: We cannot go three weeks without a Poetry Friday!
Today's poem comes from poet Ann Turner. Turner was molested when she was a small child by a neighborhood boy. She wrote this collection of poems about that time in her life. I chose the poem "I am the Pig" because it relates to Melinda's experience in Speak. As we read Speak in today's class, we saw several connections between Turner's poem and Melinda's encounter with "IT", aka Andy Evans.
