Book of the Week

This week's Book of the Week was also our recent Chick Lit Book Club selection for November. It's called How I Live Now and it was written by Meg Rosoff. It is the story of a girl named Daisy who is shipped off by her father and stepmother to live with relatives in England. Almost as soon as Daisy sets foot in England, the world enters into a full-scale war. Daisy's comfortable life on a English farm with her beloved cousins is short-lived, and she separated from all but one of her cousins.

Daisy has a sarcastic, witty tone about her. She is often flippant, but it seems that this attitude is a carefully crafted one meant to shield herself from getting too close to others who may be lost. She has an interesting way of looking at the world and the events of the war. I don't want to give away much about the end of the book, but I will say that if you're in to realistic futuristic novels, this may be one for you.
