Text to Film Connection: God Grew Tired of Us

This past weekend, I previewed the one of the most powerful pieces of film I've ever seen in hopes that it would relate to A Long Way Gone. And, does it ever! Though these stories take place in different countries, the basic tale of civil war leading to death and danger for young boys who end up in refugee camps is very similar.

For me, some of the most profound footage in this film takes place in America when the refugees arrive here. It is amazing how well they acculturate themselves in such a short period of time and how they use organizations and government in the US to make a difference for those they left behind.

As we watched this moving film, you all worked to complete viewing guides to capture the most important aspects of this movie. We'll finish the film and the viewing guide next class.
