Night: Powerful Words, Intense Images

After SSR, we continued our reading of Elie's Wiesel's memoir Night. Elie's father and many of the remaining Jews of Sighet thought that the Nazis would leave them be in their "little ghetto." Unfortunately, this was not the case.

After our reading, you all reported out the words that you had collected during class. There were a number of moving words in today's collection. After the voting process ended, here is what you decided to keep and add to our word wall:

tortured
terror
refuge
farce
pillage
melancholy

We left Elie and his family at the entrance of Auschwitz-Birkenau. This is where we will meet him and his family next class.
