Jakob the Liar

To complete our study of the WWII Holocaust, we started watching the movie Jakob the Liar. This is a great movie because it gives us a sense of what the ghettos were like and what pre-concentration camp life was like. Night moves so quickly past this part of the Holocaust experience that it's good to spend a little more time there.

Also, Robin Williams is the lead actor in this film. Because he is mostly known for more comic roles, his part in this movie becomes all that much more of a tragic one. There are definitely laughs to be had while watching, but overall this film is powerful representation of this period in history.
