Before we start in on our common assessment, we're going to spend a little time looking at one of the most important American poets of the twenty-first century. Langston Hughes is an absolutely amazing poet in that he captures African American speech, culture, and life in a simple yet sophisticated manner. We'll read four of his poems and take notes about his life this class period.
