Even though the actual reading of The Crucible goes pretty quickly in class, we have spent a lot of time getting through Act I. I think that this is because we are spending a lot of time thinking about and discussing the time period and the motivations of the characters in this play. This discussion is a good thing, so we will probably need to spend some time in each class talking about the history of the time period.
After we finished reading Act I, we moved on to our first reading guide. This guide is fairly lengthy, but so was the Act. We did not quite finish the reading guide, so we'll work on that as part of next class.
