Today, we read a chapter and a half of Into the Wild, bringing us to the middle of Chapter 6. We learned about Chris McCandless' experience working at McDonalds and settling back into society for a couple of months before his return to the road. This seemed out of character for McCandless, and we discussed this abrupt and short lived change of lifestyle.We then finished watching the True Life episode we started last class, "I'm Living off the Grid." We spent time writing down some final comments on our viewing guides and being thoroughly grossed out at the thought of eating "head stew" (made of a deer's head). On our viewing guides, we considered how this episode related to Into the Wild and what kind of a difference these people were making. We also spent some time at the end of class gathering songs for our Senior Year Soundtrack--make sure you think of a song you would like to add to it by next class!
