Today, for Poetry Friday we are doing something a little different. We will be listen to the Ben Harper song "Oppression" to further explore this characteristic of dystopia that we visited last class. We will analyze this song poetically and make text-to-text connections to The Hunger Games. We will then adapt the lyrics into our own poems about oppression based upon what we have read in The Hunger Games. Each line will depict a certain way in which the people of Panem are oppressed. We will do this in groups of three. Each member of the group will be devoted to adpating one stanza--then the whole group will work together to create a new chorus.Youtube: Ben Harper - "Oppression"
