Poetry Month Madness

Today, In Freshman English, we will be finishing up with Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men and discussing the ending of the novel. Afterward, we will do a fun activity for Poetry Friday. (Not only is it Poetry Friday, but April is also National Poetry Month!). Visit this wiki to see how it will all go down! Click on the link that says "Freshman Poetry Bracket" on the left of the wiki.

We will be reading through all of the poems listed and determining which poem stands out above all. The link to each of the poems we will be reading is provided on the wiki. Within each category, we will each be voting on which one of the poems we enjoy more. This poetry face-off will be done March Madness bracket-style. We will fill out our brackets in class, tally up the votes, and see which poem we like best. May the best poem win! This activity will prepare you for what's to come in Freshman English, from Shakespeare to our Multigenre project at the end of the year!
